On May 10th, WHAS-11 TV honored New Washington Middle/High School English/radio/television teacher Bill Jones as the 2017 ExCEL Award winner for Greater Clark County Schools. WHAS-11’s Gary Roedemeier was on hand to present Bill with the famous gold apple and a $1,000 teacher grant, sponsored by LG&E KU, to use for use in Bill’s classroom.
Bill earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Education from Indiana University Southeast and his Masters +30 from Indiana Wesleyan and has served as an teacher in Greater Clark County Schools for 26 years.
Bill Jones stated, “My rewards as a teacher occur when I can see the light go on in any student, particularly one who has struggled with some aspect of the school environment. I want my students to have benefitted from their time in my class by learning the required material, but also by learning lessons about life that they can take with them long after their time in school is over. My goal is always to have a positive impact on the lives of my students, and when that happens, I could ask for no better reward.”
